Cockroaches make SO MUCH NOISE! Oh my, it is creepy too. they chitter and chatter and hiss and scurry. You can hear their every movement. The kitchen is now a place I will not go at night.
That's all.

Thai Thai Delight is the name of a dessert that is sold in a coffee shop/bakery in Nakhon Phanom. It's atrocious, coconut icecream with canned corn on top. This...is my journey.

Hey I can relate to the disgust factor with those critters!! I used to visit my parents in Florida and see them occasionally, scurrying into the kitchen from the garage or sun porch. I remember one particular visit when I was pregnant with Madeleine. My mom was running around spraying RAID (the smell of it haunts me still), and your dad was angry that she'd expose me and our unborn child to such toxic chemicals. So gross...Just remember that they're about as low as you can go on the food chain (Yummy!), and they cannot hurt you!! Love you lots...Momxxoo
ahh. those things creeped me out so much! the worst is walking home at 10 or 11 at night, and they're coming out of the sidewalk, jumping all over your feet...
I really miss my lizard friends though. there was one that always slept above my bed, and it took me a while to not look for them in the bathroom!
Now you have a taste of what my childhood in Florida was like. I survived. :-) Have to admit that I prefer spiders in Oregon to roaches in Florida now!
sounds like our kitchen in Bangkok - I hate to go there at night!!! Corvallis is much better!!
I think the key is NOT exploring barefoot. Remember, you're far bigger than they. Try to be pleasant (you feel like a foreigner, they're concerned you might try to ingest them).
The Florida variety can fly. Do the Thai fly?
I'm loving your blog. Your writing is compelling.
Claire & I have been playing duets on the Sunitsaa Rassamee Memorial Landing--it's a lovely space with great lighting & acoustics. You should know.
Thanks for providing a medium to savor your experiences.
Great fun!
Love, Papa Char
ACK! I HATE those BUGS!
